NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The theft of 25 handguns from a dealer in Tickfaw has resulted in a three-year, one-month sentence for a 19-year-old from Ponchatoula.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane Evans says in a news release that the sentence was handed down this week for Antwon Seymore.

Seymore had pleaded guilty to theft of firearms from a premises owned by a federally-licensed firearms dealer.

Prosecutors said the theft happened in April 2016, when Seymore and a juvenile broke into The Tickfaw Auction Company.

Seymore also was ordered to pay $8,780 in restitution.
