SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A former prosecutor’s investigator has been sentenced to two to six years in prison for a drunken-driving hit-and-run crash that killed a teenager.

Peter Rauch received the maximum sentence in Onondaga County Court on Friday. He pleaded guilty in September to leaving the scene of a fatal crash and vehicular manslaughter. He admitted he was drunk the night of March 21 when he hit 18-year-old Seth Collier.

Rauch apologized to Collier’s family during sentencing.

Collier had been walking home from a friend’s house after working a shift at Burger King when he was struck. Rauch admitted driving off in his district attorney’s office-issued car with Collier’s body lying in the street. Collier died two days later in the hospital.

Onondaga County recently agreed to a $150,000 settlement with Collier’s family.
