NEW YORK (AP) - New York’s transit chief is catching some flak after uttering a naughty word on a hot mic.

The Daily News - which is making a quip about the “F train” - says Joe Lhota (LOH’-tuh) was grumbling to himself when he made the slip Wednesday after a Metropolitan Transportation Authority board meeting.

Asked to respond, the chairman gamely notes that the MTA has gotten rid of the old-school salutation “ladies and gentlemen.”
