SEATTLE (AP) - Washington has suspended senior linebacker Azeem Victor indefinitely following his weekend arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Victor was taken into custody early Sunday morning and released later that day, according to King County jail records. Additional details about the arrest were not immediately available.

“We take these matters very seriously, and have suspended Azeem from our team indefinitely as we continue to gather details about this incident,” coach Chris Petersen said in a written statement.

Washington would not comment further on the matter.

Victor had a sack in the 16th-ranked Huskies’ 30-22 loss at Stanford last week.
