MILTON, Del. (AP) - Authorities have identified the victim in a weekend boating accident in southern Delaware.

Authorities say 62-year-old Lewes resident Dan Cochran IV had been kayaking alone on the Broadkill River. According to a news release from the Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police, a couple boating early Saturday afternoon in the area near Oyster Rocks Road found an empty kayak, and then saw a body floating nearby.

The Lewes Fire Department recovered Cochran’s body. It was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

The Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police, a part of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, is investigating the accident.
