JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man is facing up to 10 years in prison after a jury found him guilty in a fatal hit-and-run two years ago.
Local media outlets report 39-year-old Joseph Shelton was found guilty on Monday of multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter, felony death by motor vehicle, hit and run inflicting serious injury, defective brakes and driving while license revoked. The jury deliberated for approximately three hours before returning its verdict.
Onslow County Superior Judge Charles Henry sentenced Shelton on Tuesday.
Authorities say 53-year-old Ronda Sue Anderson was killed as she walked along a road in Sneads Ferry on July 22, 2015.
