In a recent survey of its members, a dating website found that while the Israeli accent drives men wild, women found British accents to be the world’s sexiest.
MissTravel.com, a dating website that says it “connects adventurous people with a passion for travel and new experiences” polled its members throughout the month of March, asking them which of 21 different accents its respondents found to be the sexiest.
“Accents have a tendency of taking our minds to unknown, and exotic places, adding a touch of mystery and intrigue to the speaker,” MissTravel.com CEO Brandon Wade said in a news release announcing the survey results.
“As Americans we often associate British accents with intelligence and class, both desirable qualities for a mate. While Israeli accents conjure up images of the Mediterranean,” Mr. Wade said.
According to its news release, MissTravel.com boasts 600,000 members from 135 different countries.
Rounding out the top five sexiest accents to men, in descending order, are Colombian, Australian, French and finally Southern. Meanwhile Scottish, Spanish, Australian, and Southern filled out the top five for women.
Five of the 21 accents listed by MissTravel.com failed to garner a single vote from either women or men: Nigerian, Chinese, Filipino, Jamaican and Indian. Curiously, other accents seemed to have no appeal to one sex while registering with the other.
For example, zero women found the Israeli accent the world’s sexiest, although it ranked number one among men. And while a healthy plurality of women found the Italian accent alluring, no men placed it as their top choice.
