PHOENIX (AP) - A Mesa man has been jailed after authorities say he collided with five other vehicles while driving the wrong way on a freeway for seven miles.

The state Department of Public Safety says nobody was injured in the Monday night collisions on U.S. 60 that led to the arrest of 32-year-old Trent Sanford Walker on suspicion of 24 counts of DUI, aggravated assault and other crimes.

The DPS says Walker didn’t stop after any of the collisions and was arrested after he drove around a parked Highway Patrol vehicle and finally corrected his direction.

According to DPS, Walker said he had taken 15 to 20 gel tablets of cough medicine at one time.

Walker remains jailed. Court records don’t show he has an attorney who could comment on the allegations.
