AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - Republican Ronnie Young has won a special election to fill a seat in the South Carolina House of Representatives.

The Aiken County Council chairman got nearly 60 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s special election to win the seat. Democrat Jennifer Lariscey received 38 percent of the vote.

Young replaces Chris Corley, who resigned in January after he was arrested on domestic violence and weapons charges following a dispute with his wife in December.

Young had been on the county council for more than 20 years.
