DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A 68-year-old Bettendorf woman who admitted stealing from her employer has been given five years of probation.

Court records show Joan Maureen Smith had pleaded guilty to theft. At her sentencing in Scott County District Court earlier this month, Smith also was given 10 years in prison, suspended, a $1,000 fine, also suspended, and ordered to make restitution.

The records show Smith has agreed to pay $2,000 a month until $465,000 more has been paid back to Dr. Richard Sadler, for whom she worked at Chest and Vascular Surgery in Davenport. She’s already paid him back $135,000.
