COVINGTON, Okla. (AP) - The U.S. Geological Survey says three small earthquakes have been recorded in northern Oklahoma.

The agency says a 3.8 magnitude quake was recorded shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday and a 2.4 magnitude temblor struck about 2½ hours later, both near Covington, about 55 miles (88 kilometers) north of Oklahoma City.

The third quake was magnitude 3.2 and occurred at 4:23 a.m. near Waynoka, about 95 miles (153 kilometers) northwest of Oklahoma City.

No injuries or damage are reported. Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest that are felt by humans and damage is not likely in quakes below magnitude 4.0.

Thousands of earthquakes have struck in Oklahoma in recent years, many linked to the underground injection of wastewater from oil and natural gas operations.
