RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont high school student charged with sending death threats to fellow students, teachers and staff at his school, causing three lockdowns and the cancellation of classes, has been ordered released from custody again.
Eighteen-year-old Josiah Leach, a student at South Burlington High School, was taken into custody Friday after a federal judge said there was strong evidence Leach used the internet in violation of the terms of his release.
The Burlington Free Press reports that investigators allege in court papers that Leach used the internet to impersonate a former friend and fabricate an admission to the threats by that person.
Leach has pleaded not guilty to emailing a “murder list” on April 20 targeting 16 students and staff.
He was released Tuesday on stricter conditions.
