TANGIER, Va. (AP) - The Coast Guard has rescued a man from his disabled sailboat in the Chesapeake Bay.

The Coast Guard said Monday that the boat struck a submerged object about 10 miles southwest of Tangier Island in Virginia. It began taking on water in stormy weather.

The man activated his emergency position indicating radio beacon. The Coast Guard sent out a rescue ship and a helicopter in response.

The man appeared to be showing signs of disorientation and fatigue. But he declined EMS treatment and returned to his home in Virginia Beach.

The Coast Guard said there were two-foot seas and winds of 20 knots at the time. The owner had arranged for a commercial salvage company to retrieve his boat, the Sweet Revenge.
