Mainers had better pack an umbrella, and maybe a sweat shirt, as they head out to parades and other Memorial Day observances.
The forecast calls for rain showers and temperatures struggling to reach 60 on Monday.
Parades and other events were the order of the day in most communities as Mainers paused to remember those who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
Gov. Paul LePage said there’s no way to repay service members for their sacrifice but that “we can show that we are grateful for all of our fallen heroes.”
Flags were at half-staff until noon to honor the fallen. At noon, flags were raised to recognize those who sacrificed and are still with us.
