LELAND, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a North Carolina man has been charged in connection with a spate of vehicle break-ins over several weeks.

The StarNews reports (https://bit.ly/2r476c8 ) that 29-year-old Jeremy Ray Grainger was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny, larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. Leland police say in a statement that multiple vehicles targeted in the Magnolia Greens area were left unlocked.

The case remains under investigation and police expect additional charges to be filed.

State records show that Grainger has been convicted five times since 2005 on charges related to vehicle break-ins. He has served over three years in prison.

He’s being held on $1.25 million bail. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
