CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Two women in northern Nevada escaped with only minor injuries after they crashed into a river while driving off-road in a canyon east of Carson City.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says the driver lost control of the vehicle, sending it into the Carson River in Brunswick Canyon at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. Fire crews and a search and rescue team responded but the women managed to get to shore safely.

Search and Rescue commander Dave Spencer told the Nevada Appeal (https://tinyurl.com/y9otu5ff) it took crews nearly an hour and a half to get the vehicle out of the water.
