BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A new work of street art in the southwestern Vermont town of Bennington should serve a double purpose of beautifying the town and keeping motorists on track.
A street-level mural that includes piano keys and the four points of the compass has been painted into the middle of the intersection where Bennington’s South and North streets intersect with Main Street in the heart of the community.
Local business owner Polly van der Linde, who spearheaded the project, said it aims to celebrate the town’s cultural history and give residents and visitors a unique sight to enjoy.
The Bennington Banner (https://bit.ly/2rYyDsG ) reports the idea grew out of a “flash mob” last summer, when a keyboard design on cardboard was placed at the intersection.
