BERLIN, Vt. (AP) - Vermont firefighters are being praised for their quick actions after a fire destroyed a commuter bus during a routine maintenance check.

The Wednesday fire destroyed the bus, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other nearby buses and buildings at the Green Mountain Transit headquarters in the town of Berlin, just south of Montpelier.

The Times Argus (https://bit.ly/2r0bvgd ) reports two other buses parked near the vehicle that burned were singed.

Transit staff members were moved to another location while firefighters battled the blaze.

Montpelier Fire Department Lt. Jake Larrabee says staff reported they were doing a routine check of the bus, which was running when it caught fire.

There were no injuries.
