ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say firefighters used ropes to rescue 14 people trapped in an elevator at an Atlantic City casino.

Emergency responders were called to the Tropicana Casino and Resort early Sunday after an elevator became stuck between the sixth and seventh floors.

Firefighters used an opening on the 15th floor to reach the passengers. They deployed a rope rescue and haul system to pull each passenger more than 100 feet to safety.

No injuries were reported. But officials say the passengers were “stressed out.”

It’s not clear what caysed th elevator to stop working.
