BENTON, Ky. (AP) - Police in western Kentucky have charged a teenager in an accident that killed a passenger.

Media outlets report the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office charged 18-year-old Kori Lane of Paducah with murder and driving under the influence.

The sheriff’s office says in a statement that the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed when it crashed early Saturday near the town of Benton. Sixteen-year-old passenger Sierra Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

It wasn’t immediately known whether Lane has an attorney.
