SALEM, N.J. (AP) - A former New Jersey corrections officer was sentenced to five years in state prison after admitting he sexually assaulting an inmate.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/2qzeVD0 ) that Elbert B. Johnson 2nd was arrested in May 2015 on charges of sexual assault and misconduct. He was a corrections officer at the Salem County Correctional Facility, where he attacked the inmate.

The sentence was part of a plea agreement. Johnson will be eligible for parole in two years, and will have to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.



He will also forfeit his state pension and is banned from future public employment.
