ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - All eastbound lanes on Interstate 40 near the Tennessee lines have been reopened, one day after a tanker truck carrying tar overturned and spilled its load.

A news release from the N.C. Department of Transportation said the affected portion opened around 6 p.m. Saturday.

NCDOT also said the extensive cleanup had also required a short overnight closure of the westbound lanes.
