TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Two fire districts on Tucson’s northwestern environs are exploring the possibility of become one.
Unanimous votes by the boards of the Golder Ranch and Mountain Vista fire districts authorized the consolidation talks and set the stage for two public meetings planned in June and two public hearings in July.
Golder Ranch Fire Chief Randy Karrer says officials are committed to sharing information with the public so an informed dialogue can take place.
Mountain Vista Fire Chief Cheryl Horvath says the two districts have already work collaboratively on things such as fleet services, training and fire prevention and use an automatic aid agreement to determine responses regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.
