Tuition going up 3.8 percent for in-state students at VCU

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Tuition is going up next year for Virginia Commonwealth University students.

Local news media outlets report that the VCU Board of Visitors approved a 3.8 percent increase in tuition and fees for in-state undergraduate students. That means that in-state undergrads will pay about $494 more next year in tuition and mandatory fees for a total of $13,624.

Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students will increase 4.2 percent or more than $1,300. They’ll pay $33,656 next year.

The $1.2 billion budget approved by the board includes $12 million in state-approved raises for faculty and staff as well as a more than $5 million increase in university-funded financial aid for students.
