BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has four-person field teams ready to respond to the high water levels along the shores of Lake Ontario.

The teams consist of hydraulic and hydrology engineers, geotechnical engineers, coastal engineers, and operation and technical service personnel. Members of these teams can be sent out individually or as a group to provide technical support.

Members of the Corps of Engineers have made field visits to affected areas in Niagara and Wayne counties, offering information on permit options.

Federal officials say the Corps is in communication with the State Office of Emergency Management, state regional directors, and county emergency managers to help state and local efforts.

Residents in need of assistance should contact the governor’s hotline at 866-244-3839.
