HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court says a woman who quit when she didn’t get a raise after her job title was changed can’t collect unemployment benefits.
Judge Renee Cohn Jubelirer wrote that wasn’t a compelling enough reason for Daa’iyah Wallace to quit her $14.25-an-hour job as a data analyst for Sykes Enterprises.
The Trenton, New Jersey woman says she was hired as a customer service rep in September 2015, but that her job title changed two days later. She claimed that entitled her to a raise. But the Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Board agreed with the employer that there was no significant change in duties - despite the change in job title - so the raise wasn’t warranted.
Judge Jubelirer also noted that Wallace waited six months before quitting over her wages.
