LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Smoking and vaping has been banned in all outdoor areas in the seaside Southern California resort town of Laguna Beach.

The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to expand its ban on smoking that already covered beaches and parks.

That means the only place people will be allowed to smoke in town will be inside their homes and cars.

The ordinance is the first such restrictive ban in Orange County. It will go into effect after a second council reading in 30 days.

There would be a $100 fine for first violation and up to $500 for third violation.

The Orange County Register says (https://bit.ly/2pws4vK) in California, 70 cities have adopted some sort of outdoor smoking ban.
