PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities have apprehended a motorist suspected of hitting a Philadelphia police bike patrol officer.

The officer sustained a broken leg when the vehicle jumped a curb and hit him as he and three other officers were investigating another incident on Custer Street late Tuesday night. The other officers jumped to safety.

Police say the 44-year-old suspect drove off, but was apprehended on East Allegheny Avenue.
