BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - MDU Resources Group, Inc. says its first-quarter profits are up 12 percent from the same period a year ago.
The Bismarck-based energy, mining and construction company reported earnings from continuing operations of $35.5 million, or 18 cents per share for the first three months of the year. That compares with earnings pf $31.6 million, or 16 cents per share for the first quarter of 2016.
The company says colder weather in the three months ending March 31 boosted sales of natural gas and electricity, but it said snowy and wet conditions slowed work in its construction division.
