ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - A house fire in southwest Wyoming has claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman.
The fire occurred about 1:55 p.m. Saturday at a Rock Springs residence.
The victim was identified as Shirley Kelley.
Authorities tell the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner (https://bit.ly/2r039lp ) that she was unable to escape despite first responders’ efforts to rescue her, and she was later pronounced dead.
One deputy sheriff was taken to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for treatment for smoke inhalation. No other injuries to emergency responders were reported.
Officials from the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
