SONOITA, Ariz. (AP) - The number of personnel assigned to a week-old southern Arizona wildfire that burned 73.4 square miles (190.1 sq. kilometers) of grass, brush and trees continues to drop as crews have contained 94 percent of its perimeter.

The incident management team says the number of personnel will drop to 50 Monday as remaining firefighters continue mopping up and checking the fire’s perimeter.

The team says just over 300 personnel were assigned to the fire as of late Sunday — down from a peak of approximately 800.

No areas remain under evacuation or pre-evacuation status.

The human-caused fired started about 10 miles southeast of Green Valley on April 21 and then burned eastward across the Santa Rita Mountains and deep into a valley north of Sonoita.
