She announced Monday that lawyer and pastor Joshua Pendergrass would fill the positon.

The statement says Pendergrass has almost a decade of media relations experience. He has worked on campaigns in Alabama and Tennessee.

Ivey says Pendergrass will help “steady the ship of state and improve Alabama’s image.”

Pendergrass holds a bachelor’s degree from Lambuth University and a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University. He has been a senior pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Crane Hill since 2013.
