MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has appointed a new communications director.
She announced Monday that lawyer and pastor Joshua Pendergrass would fill the positon.
The statement says Pendergrass has almost a decade of media relations experience. He has worked on campaigns in Alabama and Tennessee.
Ivey says Pendergrass will help “steady the ship of state and improve Alabama’s image.”
Pendergrass holds a bachelor’s degree from Lambuth University and a Juris Doctor degree from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University. He has been a senior pastor at Bethany Baptist Church in Crane Hill since 2013.
He was formerly on the board of the Alabama Citizens Action Program, a conservative activism group that lists itself on its website as the state’s “moral compass.”
