KINDER, La. (AP) - The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office says an inmate who escaped following treatment at a Kinder hospital has been captured in Newton County, Texas.

Chief Deputy Ricky Johnson tells KPLC-TV (https://bit.ly/2mmTBRQ ) 32-year-old Kimberly Dupont, of Elton was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday by Newton County sheriff’s deputies at a home between Newton and Bon Wier.

Dupont bolted from the Allen Parish Hospital around 5:30 p.m. Monday. Johnson says Dupont had complained of kidney stones and was brought to the facility for a CAT scan, but fled.



Dupont was in custody on charges of theft and simple burglary. She now faces additional charges of simple escape.

Johnson says his office is in the process of extraditing Dupont back to Louisiana.
