CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A teen charged in a shooting near Mount Pleasant last month has now been charged with murder in a Charleston County shooting death.
Local media outlets report that the Mount Pleasant teen was charged Tuesday with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Twenty-two-year-old Justin Nelson of Awendaw was found shot Feb. 24. Sheriff’s deputies had been called to check on a suspicious car and found Nelson inside. He was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston where he died.
The teen had been arrested Feb. 27 for a Feb. 15 shooting near Mount Pleasant. He was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the earlier shooting.
