GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say three students have been charged after rumors of weapons led to a lockdown at a New Jersey high school.
Police were called to Absegami High School shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday due to suspicious pictures posted on social media of students and weapons that might be in the school in Galloway Township.
Several students were detained within minutes, and police dogs did an extensive search of the school. Authorities say no weapons were found and no injuries were reported in the lockdown, which lasted for about 90 minutes.
The three students - two boys ages 17 and 18 and a 16-year-old girl - are all charged with creating a false public alarm.
The school resumed regular operations once the lockdown was lifted.
