WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - Officials say a pre-dawn blaze at a northeastern Pennsylvania county building appears to have been deliberately set.

The fire at the Luzerne County building occurred at about 6 a.m. Monday.

District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis said the building’s sprinkler system quickly extinguished the fire and no one was injured. She said the fire appeared to have been deliberately set and investigators are following several leads but declined to provide details.

Council chair Linda Houck said in an email to council members that the county manager had told her that someone allegedly threw “a fire bomb” into the office of the head of the Children and Youth executive director.

Police and fire officials didn’t say where and how the blaze occurred.

Officials said the building was closed Monday but would reopen Tuesday.
