OLD FORT, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Buncombe County say a hiker reported missing on a popular hiking trail near Montreat was found just over 12 hours later near Old Fort.
Emergency officials told local media outlets that the woman was found unharmed and in good condition at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in McDowell County. The emergency operations center said the 35-year-old woman was reported missing around 8 p.m. Saturday after she called Buncombe County 911. They sat the woman had been hiking on the 7.5 mile Graybeard Trail, which is on the outskirts of Montreat, near Black Mountain.
Montreat has over 20 miles of hiking trails. A portion of the Graybeard Trail is within Montreat.
