WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - Police say more than 20 Colby College students have received summonses accusing them of underage drinking and using fake identification off campus.
The Waterville police chief tells the Morning Sentinel (https://bit.ly/2mZFKhR ) that the department received a call Thursday night from staff at the Silver Street Tavern, who believed that underage people were drinking there. Police say the Colby students were at a club below the tavern.
When police arrived, they say the bar had confiscated some fake IDs. Police say several officers found a larger group of underage people.
The police chief says at least 22 students received summonses, some for both underage drinking and possession of fake ID. The students are scheduled to appear in court on April 18. The penalty for the alleged civil violations is a fine.
