CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Chattanooga police are wrapping up work on a new center that will let investigators use live data to watch the city’s streets.
According to the Times Free Press (https://bit.ly/2lqIecM ), Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher said at a news conference Friday that construction on the Real Time Intelligence Center will finish in the next few days.
Fletcher says the department will then slowly add staff and resources to the center in the coming weeks.
The center will show live video from cameras on streets across the city and will house the crime analysis unit. Fletcher expects information from city license plate readers to head to the center as well.
The center will also serve as a control center during major incidents.
The first 15 live-feed cameras will be running by May.
