RUSSIA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say autopsies show that the deaths of a 40-year-old and his 13-year-old son in rural central New York was a murder-suicide.
The victims were found Thursday inside a mobile home after a fire destroyed much of the structure in the Herkimer County Town of Russia. They were identified as James Huckabone and his son, Parker, an eighth-grader in the Poland Central School District.
Herkimer County Coroner Vincent Enea says Friday the teenager’s death was the result of a gunshot wound to the head, and the father died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Their bodies were discovered inside the charred home.
State fire investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
