TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Pima County residents can now be notified of emergencies in their area by phone or email.

KGUN-TV reported Thursday (https://bit.ly/2nSZNlM ) that the Pima County Office of Emergency Management announced residents can sign up for alerts on myalerts.pima.gov. The alerts will be about heavy police activity or flooding from monsoons.

Spokeswoman Judy Lynn says the county will only alert residents about serious emergencies.



The alerts can come through text messages, phone calls or emails.
