OPINION:
Unfortunately the events described in “How liberal professors are blackballing studies confirming Trump’s claim of voter fraud” (Web, March 30) are nothing new in today’s America. The article says that liberals are blacklisting the professors at Old Dominion University because they don’t agree with the professors’ studies into illegal voting. What they don’t agree with are the scientific conclusions. But blacklisting professors based on their studies has been happening for a long time.
The federal government has been holding back funding for any university studies done by professors who don’t support the claim that human activity (and not natural environmental swings) are causing global climate changes. Don’t believe me? Name one professor who received federal funding for his or her studies that didn’t support the liberal global-warming agenda. The federal government has been playing the blacklist card for many years and it’s not at all surprising that the non-federal sectors are now taking up the baton to thwart the scientific studies whose results they don’t like.
It’s scientific censorship in its most evil form. And it shows that the attitudes in “1984” are not only with us but are thriving.
