BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck oral surgeon accused of pulling the wrong teeth, starting procedures without enough sedation and yanking so hard on surgical stitches that she ripped them from a patient’s mouth, has been suspended from practicing medicine.
The North Dakota Board of Medical Examiners issued an emergency suspension for Dr. Mansureh Iravani on Friday, The Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/2okxKJI ) reported. Iravani is also under investigation by the North Dakota Board of Dental Examiners.
Iravani is a dentist and doctor in solo practice at the Oral Surgery Center of Bismarck.
She said the allegations are mostly false and cooked up by disgruntled former employees.
“They have made me sound like I’m a monster, and I have to basically prove I’m not a monster,” Iravani said. “I’m going to do everything in my power to come back and be a good oral surgeon to this community.”
Iravani closed her practice Tuesday. It will remain closed until her April 13 hearing which is the earliest her license could be reinstated. She plans to bring former employees as witnesses on her side at the hearing.
She will undergo a psychiatric competency and chemical dependency evaluation prior to the hearing.
This is the second time she has been disciplined by the two boards. Her licenses were suspended for a year in 2013 after she crashed her car with methamphetamine in her system.
