SALEM, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon dairy has been fined more than $5,000 for violating its water quality permit.

The state Department of Agriculture said Thursday that Volbeda Farms violated discharge limitations, production area limitations, proper operation and maintenance, and monitoring and reporting requirements.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://is.gd/pgTkWA) the dairy has been known for supplying milk to Salem’s Willamette Valley Cheese Co.

Willamette Valley Cheese owner Rod Volbeda says the cheese company now sources its milk from Darigold and other dairies.

The company sells its cheese at about 40 stores through the Pacific Northwest.
