NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Authorities say 25 people have been displaced by a fire that damaged a building in New Britain.

The four-story building, which had retail stores on the first floor and apartments on the remaining floors, sustained fire, smoke and water damage. It happened just before 1 p.m. on Friday. There were no injuries.

Fire officials say the American Red Cross is assisting the 12 adults and 13 children who lived in the building with shelter and clothing.



The fire is being investigated.
