MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A man previously convicted of killing his girlfriend has pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting another woman in the head in Mobile County.

News outlets report 33-year-old Steve Mason entered the plea Monday after being charged in the 2015 shooting death of 23-year-old Kelei Morris. Morris, who was from Biloxi, Mississippi, was shot in the head outside of her Mobile apartment.

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Wright says Mason should not be allowed to bond out of jail because he threatened witnesses from prison and is a danger to the community.

Mason was convicted in 2003 in the murder of his 17-year-old girlfriend, who was shot in the head at her apartment complex. He was 18 and prosecuted as a juvenile, receiving a three-year prison term.

An attorney for Mason could not be reached.
