OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a semitrailer driver and a teenage boy in a pickup truck have been killed in a southern Iowa collision.

The collision occurred just after 8:15 a.m. Monday about 5 miles (8 kilometers) east of Ottumwa. The Iowa State Patrol says the eastbound pickup didn’t halt at a stop sign and was struck by a northbound semitrailer at a rural intersection. The semitrailer then struck a tree.

The patrol says a passenger in the pickup was killed. He was identified as 16-year-old Cale Jarmes, of Sigourney. The semitrailer driver was identified as 61-year-old Joseph Snakenberg, of Webster.

The pickup driver was taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center. The patrol identified him as 18-year-old Casey Jarmes.
