MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A Phoenix-area freeway has reopened following a crash and hours-long closure that seriously backed up traffic during the beginning of the Monday commute.

The state Department of Public Safety says both the driver and passenger were ejected when their motorcycle crashed on the transition ramp from the westbound U.S. 60 to westbound Interstate 10 shortly after midnight Sunday.

Westbound U.S. 60 was reopened shortly after 6 a.m. Monday after being closed between Loop 101 and Interstate 10.
