BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) - The National Park Service is hiring people to help manage traffic and parking at congested areas of Acadia National Park.
Up to five Visitor Service Assistants will be hired. The uniformed employees will be assigned to key locations including Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond and Sand Beach at times when traffic congestion and parking challenges are greatest.
They’ll provide visitor information, ensure park pass compliance and collect visitor data in addition to help with traffic and parking.
The National Park Service is currently preparing a transportation plan to determine ways to alleviate congestion. A draft transportation plan and environmental impact statement is expected to be released later this year.
