NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a 1-year-old child being pushed in a stroller was struck and killed by a vehicle in Queens.
It happened just before 9 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 94th Street and 23rd Avenue in East Elmhurst.
Police say the toddler’s mother was pushing the stroller on the crosswalk when a pickup truck turned onto the street striking the stroller.
The child suffered severe head and body trauma. A police vehicle rushed both the child and mother to the hospital where the little girl was pronounced dead. The mother was not injured.
Police say the driver of the truck remained at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
